Institute of Electronic Materials Technology (ITME), Glass Laboratory

Institute of Electronic Materials Technology (ITME) is the leading Polish institute working in the multidisciplinary area of research and development of materials and innovative devices and components based on these materials for use in electronics, microsystems, optoelectronics, micromechanics, etc. It’s staff is more than 250 and it is entitled to deliver the PhD degree in Material Engineering. Elaborated advanced technologies enable scientific cooperation with many Universities and Research  Institutes are published in international and Polish scientific journals, offered for interested customers to realize their projects, transferred to interested industry or utilized within the Institute for a small scale production of  advanced materials, devices and components within the institute. Many of these works have highly innovative character, confirmed by collaboration agreements with many leading Research Institutes and Industrial Companies world-wide. ITME participate in several European international and national research projects. In particular, ITME has over 30 years experience in various soft glass synthesis and development (active glasses, tellurite, heavy oxide, phosphate glasses) as well as long term experience in development of optical imaging waveguides, optical fibers, filters and lenses, photonic crystal fibres and active devices (lasers, photodetectors, transistors, diodes, fiber lasers). The Institute has fully equipped fiber drawing laboratory with 3 drawing towers and clean room, and several resistance furnaces for glass synthesis and modifications.
